                   Care and Feeding

Our feeding program is very simple.  We are feeding Petrus rabbit  feed four to six ounces per day and plenty of fresh water.  We sometimes feed them hay and occasionally we give them a treat of a small piece of sweet potatoes.

Pellets and Hay:

A good quality pellet is essential to the rabbits diet, and of course plenty of fresh water.  Timothy Hay (not Alfalfa) is also essential to the rabbits diet as it provides fiber to keep their sensitive stomachs in good order.

    Treats:

Should be given in very limited amounts.  Do not give rabbits under 4 months treats.  Their stomach can not handle them yet.

Some good treats are:  sweet potatoes, carrots and carrot tops, oatmeal, banana, cheerios, shredded wheat, pineapple, apple

Bad Treats:  (Do not give in any amount) lettuce, dried fruit, cabbage, sugar, nuts, broccoli, celery

We weigh our rabbits several times a month to make sure that they are not gaining or losing to much and make sure to trim their nails when they need it.  We are striving for  well balanced quality show rabbits.
